This is the stage version of 1975’s parody film, “Monty Python and the Holly Grail.” The story is the tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table searching for Christ’s Holly Grail. It is the adventure based on medieval legend. However this is a product of Monty Python, who is known for its nonsense humor, there is no flow of story telling in a general sense.
It was nominated for 14 Tony Awards in 2005. Among the nominees, Sara Ramirez, who plays the Lady of the Lake won the Best Featured Actress. It also received the Best Director and the Best Musical.
Highlights are its sophisticated humor and parody music. The parody musicals are mostly Off -Broadway’s favorite theme, such as? “Forbidden Broadway” and “The Musical of Musicals, the Musical.” Spamalot can be regarded Broadway’s first challenge to the up-scaled parody musical.
