Ground Zero / World Trade Center Site
|
| The World Trade Center twin towers, and other buildings, collapsed as the result of the terrorist attack on the morning of September 11, 2001 with almost three thousand innocent victims. The Twin towers were 417 and 415 meters high, respectively. Each had 110 floors and were surrounded by other office buildings. The area is now called Ground Zero which originally meant the blasting point of nuclear bombs. The city has constructed observation platforms around the area for people to see the site and understand its magnitude. A ticket (no charge) must be obtained at the South Street Seaport. |
